In early 1985 David and Pat Horsey was a farm family with four sons struggling to make a living. Then on July 27th, 1985 tragedy struck, the life of a nineteen-year-old son was snuffed out in a motorcycle accident. The Horsey family used $36,000 left from Tim’s death to start all of the Horsey Company’s you see throughout the region today. The family has done very well financially and now intends to give something back into their communities. The Horsey’s have donated to several causes throughout the years including 2 memorial grants in the name of their son at the local high school. In 2003 David G. Horsey & Sons, Inc. sponsored a fundraiser to benefit the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital Emergency Room Expansion. The company gave away a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle, 2003 special edition Ford Truck and an East Tennessee enclosed trailer to one winner. The fundraiser raised approximately $300,000. In 2004 David G. Horsey & Sons, Inc. has recently started The Horsey Family Youth Foundation. This foundation will be sponsored under the Delaware Community Foundation. This foundation was designed to benefit the youth of Sussex County, Delaware for now and many years to come. The purpose of this foundation is to try to keep children off drugs and off the streets through the involvement of education and various sports programs. Tickets will also be available for purchase on the Internet at the web site www.winamotorcycle.us.
